Cruisers Inc. Today we all went along to Lake Townsend for the sea trial after a major restoration and a brand new motor. Carolina Skiff Nicolas is working on scarfing the joint of the bulkhead. Navis This 1947 Chris Craft was brought in for a de-winterization. An oil change and an engine check should do the trick. Budsin Lightning Bugs Nicolas has finished cutting the new mahogany strips and dry fitting in place. Once we get in the special secret black epoxy, he'll finalize the aft decking. We've flipped boat #1 so Shane can get started on the bottom; patching the keel, sanding and painting the bottom. 1967 Lyman I'm working on modifying the engine box due to the size of the new engine. U-18 Jack has finished removing the bottom and next will identify rotten frames and other problem areas that need repair. Snapdragon/White Hall
Nicolas power washed the interior and prepped it for Shane to paint.

Carolina Skiff Nicolas cut out a bulkhead template and Gary just arrived with the lumber for it. Snapdragon Nicolas put the final varnish coat on the gunwales. He's cleaning out the bilge before returning all the interior pieces. U-18 Jack got started on the bottom. Scraping off old paint, removing bungs and fasteners. Sea Skiff Jack is building up varnish on the hull; as well as putting the final coat of varnish on all of the interior pieces. Budsin Lightning Bugs Shane sealed the deck of boat 1 and will continue to build up varnish layers. I've removed the necessary aft deck layers on boat 2 so we can start dry-fitting the new mahogany strips. Boat 3 deck varnish is coming along, as well as the interior seat backs, ceiling boards, hatches, and tiller arms. Bottoms Up
Shane is building up layers of varnish on the coamings and painted the deck Picture day! Gary made us take this group photo so please enjoy. Pictured from left to right: Gary, Nicolas, Jack, Linda, Shane, Meghan. Linda is ready for her close up Cruising Sailboat We're done painting the bottom, next we'll do the topsides and Nicolas is currently doing the sweep sockets. Bottoms Up Shane put a few coats of varnish on the coamings; next he's sanding the hull and prepping for a coat of paint. Budsin Lightning Bugs We found some low spots on the aft deck of boat 2, and instead of making a dozen patches we opted to remove the top quarter-inch with the router and replace it with new mahogany. Here I am completing the removal and chiseling away any layers that were missed. U-18
Gary is working on the engine for the U-18 while we clean out the inside and prep it for a full restoration Budsin Lightning Bugs Shane put the first few coats of varnish on the hull of boat #1. I've got two coats of varnish on the deck of boat #3. Gary patched a spot on the deck of boat #2, he chiseled out the top rotten layers and cut a new patch to inlay, now I can continue prepping the deck for varnish. Bottoms Up After painting the hull and righting the boat, Shane is stripping the combings in preparation for re-varnishing. Chris Craft Holiday Jack finished putting on the hidem trim; then Gary and Jack installed the windshield, more deck hardware, the seats and the floor boards. Snapdragon Nicolas is polishing some brass deckware for the Snapdragon, and I put another coat of varnish on the gunwales. New Project Alert! Next week we will be starting on a 1947 18ft Chris Craft Utility, commonly called a U-18
