58 Continental We have got a new 58 Continental in the shop, and it has already done a full flip! (literally). Jack has removed all deck hardware including seats, floorboards, engine, electrical and has been cleaned out! We found lots of little teeth marks throughout the boat. Some little critter likes oily mahogany. The crew flipped the boat and removed the bottom & transom as well as gripe. It's gotten a coat of penetrating epoxy. Next Jack will mill White Oak to replace the damaged frames. Stay tuned to watch this boat get its full restoration! U-18 This boat is moving on up! Jack has installed the transom and completed repairs on existing forward sections of outer chine pieces. It is ready to install the outer chine. The crew holes on the bottom are filled and the bottom has gotten its first coat of primer! CC Riviera Shane is working hard on this boat! He has been working on removing seams & sanding the deck. He's also restraining and revarnishing. Looking good Shane! Cruising Sailboat Meghan is working on this boat. She has been wiring up the bow & stern light as well as the control panel! Ski Boat The Ski boat looks great! Shane has installed existing pipes, laminate on the floor, installed flooring and seats. The windshield is put back together and mounted in. Next up is upholstering the engine box, wiring the instrument panel and once we get the gauges from restoration company, we can test run the engine! CC Deluxe Runabout - "Barrelback" This boat has gotten its final coat of varnish on the deck as well as repainted white deck lines thanks to Gary! Next up is the reassembly including the deck hardware. Check out these before and after of the deck lines! Way to go Gary. Whirlwind The whirlwind has had its spray rails, its engine motor removed. Meghan is patching the port aft hole and cutting veneers to fit. Looking good! Clay's Boat
We have completed the rebuilding of the transom and the dead wood. Next is to install the drive shaft. It sure is looking great! Here at Lowell Boats we take pride in our projects and appriciate their patient and boat loving owneres. We want to take the time to spolight some of our projects and their progress. This week its the 18ft Utility aka the "U-18". This boat has come a long way. Just this year it's bottom was permanently installed & had it's engine tested & running by Gary. Jack has been working hard on this boat! He fitted the bottom planks by steam bending, cured the bottom, faired & lots of sanding as well as installed new sections of the chine planks and outer chine. Most recently the Port side chine plank was installed and now the Starboard chine plank is in and Jack is now fitting the outter chine piece. He also filled old holes on transom, started dry fitting the transom, & made new transom battens. There is more to come on this beauty but we love the progress happening! It's restoration is looking great. Meghan recently painted the bilge and deck and varnished the rub rails. Check out that awesome before and after! Camp Cruiser This boat has newly varnished trim pieces and wood cleats. How cool are those! Be sure to check back every week on our blog to see the progress of this boat and others! Budsin Lightning Bug Meghan has been dry fitting the rubrails on this electric boat - she even took this awesome close up of the dry-fit! looking great Meghan, can't wait to see the varnish on these. CC Riviera The riviera just had a major sand and fresh coat of varnish applied! Look at that shine ! Ski Boat Shane has been installing the Ski Boats hardware and new fabric on the dash. He has done a lot in the past few weeks on this boat including wiring, working on guages and ceiling boards. Great job Shane! 55 Continental The 55 has recently went on a sea trial and our crew loved it! Shane is now finailzing all the small details. Penn Yan The Penn Yan is getting its very own cutsom made welt cord for the windsheild trim! Jack is working on caulking around the glass on the windshilds and dry fitting pieces. 26 Sea Skiff That's right this boat is in the air! The sea skiff its getting the bottom restored. Our crew it working together to sand it. U-18

Looking great with its new 22k gold lettering thanks to Gregson Signs! Ski Boat This ski boat has gotten a lot of new instillations, including the prop shaft, strut, fuel tank and filter, bilge blower and steering linkage. Wooo that was a lot! Oh yeah, he even worked in TV production and knows A LOT about stage and theater lighting! U-18 The U-18 has it's Port side chine plank installed and Jack is wokring on installing the starboard chine plank today! This beauty has come a long way - we love to see it! 1934 Electric This boat looks completely different! Check out this stunning before and after - we've got it flipped and painted, now its being preped to install the prop shaft. This paint is called Bikini Blue, in case you want it for your patio remodel! 1967 Lyman We have been working hard on this Lyman and it is ready for its a sea trial! Now we just need the weather to hold up. Stay tuned for our favorite part of the process. By the way, these are old pictures just to show off the scope of the project. CC Riviera Shane has been working hard building coats of varnish on the Riviera. Did you know a typical restoration takes almost 8-10 coats of varnish ?! Carolina Sea Skiff A boat in the air?! How cool is that. Gary has been under this 26 ft boat sanding the bottom & preping it for refinishing. Camp Cruiser This cruising sailboat has gotten EVEN MORE varnsih! It is being preped for paint on the deck with non skid! Lookin good - thanks Meghan! 1934 Budsin Electric This budsin is in our paint room for its final coat. Yeah thats right we have a paint room! Pen Yann The Pen Yann almost ready. Those last minute details seem to take for ever. CC Deluxe Runabout - "Barrelback"
We love unique boats in the shop and this is one of them! This boat has been sanded and had its failed cocking removed and is getting ready to varnish and install new white lines. Stay tuned for all things boats. Gary was on the road doing marine surveys. Here a marine mechanic is running diagnostics. Usually when Gary does a winter survey, it snows. Not this time. Our gold leaf guy, Mike Gregson applies 22k gold vinyl to the 1955 Continental and the Budsin electric boat. A lot of white goop being slung around the shop this week. Shane and Gary are working on installing the white caulk lines on the deck of Carolina Boat and the Ski Boat. Lots of varnish being applied as well. Multiple coats on the Custom Camp Cruiser, both gloss and matte finish. Very detailed masking between coats. Good progress on the Penn Yan. Mostly ready, just lots of little details. The bottom of the U-18 is on and cured, now we are fairing and sanding, lots of sanding. Here, Jack is installing new sections of the chine planks and outer chine. The forward sections were good enough to reuse, the aft sections required replacement.....And oh yeah, the engine works!
Here's some of the things we worked on last week. Final hookup of electrical on the Penn Yan Nice bottom paint on the Riviera and Shane putting finishing touches on the Newly crafted spray rails. Preparing for touch-up of the Barrelback The Ski Boat gets a final coat of varnish. Then we can start applying the caulk stripes New caulk lines on the deck of the Carolina Boat

Thank you & Fair Seas, Lowell Boats Crew - Gary, Destini, Jack, Meghan, & Shane. Cruising Sailboat Meghan has been working hard on this boat! She has varnished the exterior wooden pieces including floorboards, seats & hatch cover. She has also applied a coat of non-skid paint on the upper deck. Currently Meghan and Gary are working on installing bow lights & are about to paint the exterior of the cabin! Stay tuned on for the updates on this beauty of a boat! 1934 Electric Boat This electric boat has a lot of NEW! A newly completed control panel, new batteries installed, and it's wiring has been installed. Next up is programing the new controller and then testing! 1934 Electricraft The bottom is painted! And it's looking great. Jack has just drilled the shaft whole so stay tunes for what's to come on this electric boat! CC Riviera Shane has sanded the transom and prepared the bottom for a coat of paint. He has also started to make new spray rails. What a gorgeous boat! See it's transformation under our current project tab. U18 The U18 looks completely different!! Especially with that new bottom that Jack is currently fitting the planks by steam bending. How cool! Cavalier Shane has been working on re-wiring the dash in preparation for re-installing the engine, Check out its engine & updated look. 1960 19ft Lyman
This Lyman's engine is officially finished putting back together after replacing the valves. Next Gary will bench test the engine then re-install. The Electri-craft boat and the double-ender are getting re-wired by Jack for it's new controller. The blue boat's wiring has been completed for its control panel & Gary has started programing it! A boat hooked up to a computer ?! Yes indeed! Carolina Skiff This boat has had an amazing transformation, just look at the before and after! Meghan is working on thoes hatches and we can't wait to see it when its all done. CC Riviera Jack & Shane have installed the new transom planks! Woo Hoo! Shane has also bunged the Hull planks that were previously installed. Looking good! 56 Continental The 56 is just about ready to head out! Shane has been applying the final touch ups including installing the windshield, propeller & steering wheel and getting a nice clean up! 55 Continental The 55 is almost ready to be on its way too! The carburetor is officially re-installed and the engine is ready to be tested! Budsin Lightning Bug This Electric boat Is getting prepped for its final coat of varnish on the deck! How bout that new transom ! Cavalier After starting the electrical work and replacement Shane has done a MAJOR sand on the engine box & transom of the cavalier and has added 2 coats of varnish! What a beaut! 18ft Cruising Sailboat This sailboat is just in! Jack has already removed the floor panels & pressure washed it. Jack has started removing the deck hardware to prep for its refinshing.
